It's a military march into autumn/winter 2012/13. Military is one of those trends that perennially pops back every Autumn/Winter in some shape of form. As a British winter and the treat of chilly winds and lashings of rain set in, it’s a good job military is back as we wouldn’t want to wrap up in anything other than heavy, warm, man-like pieces.

We’re talking a brass-buttoned jacket with a peplum or a reimagined parka with black leather sleeves. Biggest of all is the return of camouflage, which has stolen our hearts via influential street stylers and pop stars. his season came fully loaded with desirability, perhaps a sign designers are listening attentively to buyers and consumers

There was an undercurrent of comfort, with models cocooned by sumptuous layers and indulgent textures. And this season designers listened to the celebrities call and gave us all the soldiers fashion we need from the high street to the catwalk, they've raised an army in sleek khaki uniform. Stomping black boots, a double breasted coat, functional bags and a sternly cinched waist will get you drafted. Add a cap and you'll be sent straight to the front line of fashion.

This season it’s up to you to choose your muse. From the glossy-maned equestrian girl in Ride On, to the dark and deadly Girl with a Dragon Tattoo type who inspired the Dark Arts trend, via winter florals, soldier boys, and a flirtation with the Far East, this season the world is your fashion oyster. But start with a touch of green and forward march. Head-to-toe leathers, ornate Kremlin jewel-style jackets and every berry shade imaginable ruled the runways at the shows back in February. And now they’re poised and ready to hit your wardrobe.
